Christian Rieger comes from Neumarkt/Opf. and studied at the University of Music and Theater in Munich. 
He was the winner of the Richard Strauss Singing Competition. In 1994 he made his opera debut at the Oldenburg State Theater as Dandini in La cenerentola, and in 1995 he became a member of the ensemble at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe. Guest engagements have taken him to Hanover, Hamburg, Cologne, Dresden, Tokyo, Bucharest,Paris and New York. He has been a permanent member of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich since 2003.
